Nike N98 Jacket – From medal stands to the street…

With the World Cup Finals in South Africa just around the corner in 2010, Nike has gone back and dug deep into its archive and fused some of their classic pieces with innovative technology which can be worn both on the sporting field, and on the streets.

The ‘National 98’, or N98 Track Jacket was part of the debut Brazilian Football Team kit that was designed by Nike and introduced at the France World Cup 1998 where they made it to the finals but came short of winning their 5th World Cup title (which they eventually did in 2002) by losing 3-0 to the tournament host, France. Even though Ronaldo, their talismanic striker who was struck down by a mysterious seizure before the finals and put in a subdued performance on the night, the Brazilian Football team did not give up and fought till the final whistle was blown. The N98 Track Jacket is a tribute to the never dying spirit that was displayed by the Brazilians on the night.

The N98 is the center piece of the NSW SS10 Collection and will be incorporated heavily within the line. Besides recreating the piece in its classic form, NSW will introduce a new interpretation of the jacket with Gore Windstopper material, laser-cut RiRi zipper enclosure and reflective piping at the back.

Other highlights of the jacket includes:

Tshirt Store in Hong Kong

2006年於瑞典發起的時裝店Tshirt Store,除了在本土非常有名外,亦於歐洲等地擁有不俗的名氣。他們的風格偏向極重歐洲味道,簡約而摩登,偶爾也帶點復古和經典味。他們主力於生產高質素的Tshirt,配上獨一無二的圖像,再售以極吸引的價錢,很快就攻佔歐洲各地的時裝愛好者。同時他們找來來自不同地區、不同風格的設計師, 一起合作推出新旳款式、新的系列,把不同風格放在Tshirt上,令到客人更多選擇,後來甚至擴展至飾物方面如太陽眼鏡、手錶、襪子等等,除了他們找來的設計師外,他們亦十分歡迎其他的設計師以投稿型式把設計圖寄給他們,如適合的就會推出產品,這亦是令到 Tshirt Store 更受歡迎旳原因之一。

Latest Juice pop-up store invades Taiwan

The all conquering boys from CLOT has stepped up a gear on their plans for global domination in street culture by opening yet another store outside their native homeland of Hong Kong. Following the opening of Juice in Kuala Lumpur in June and Shanghai just a week ago, the boys have made their first foray into the Taiwanese market by opening their latest pop-up store, named ‘Juice Stand’ in Taipei today along with an exhibition showcasing the entire ALIENEGRA collection with some items coming directly from Edison Chen’s personal collection which were previously for family and friend’s only. The decal of the store sticks to the theme that is used throughout all the other Juice locations, mixing in light coloured wooden furniture with bright lighting to bring out the vibrant colours of their current cut and sew collection, aptly titled “From Dusk Till Dawn”. The pop-up store will open from the 22nd of December and will remain in operation for 2 months, which after that we may see a full-fledged Juice store opening in 2010.

Futura2000 x Defrag video interview

In 2009, Lenny McGurr a.k.a Futura2000 has endured a relatively quiet year compared to all the globe trotting and big name collaboration project he is usually associated with. Japanese online magazine Defrag managed to catch up with the graffiti legend while he payed a whirlwind visit to Japan for the Stussy x Futura Laboratories ‘Live in Tokyo’ at the Stussy Shibuya Chapt. In the video he briefly spoke about growing up around the graffiti movement in New York back in the late-70′s, the influences from his surroundings, the modern day street culture movement and how he remains one of the most iconic street culture artists ever by thinking and planning ahead for the future. With a Footlocker-exclusive Futura x Nike Air Force 1 pack releasing in the 1st quarter of 2010 and the continuing Nike x Lance Armstrong LIVEStrong ‘Stages’ tour, we may see more of him in the coming months.

General Zoo是一個很特別的角色,半身是骷髏骨,半身是沒有皮膚的肉身,這個特別版與普通版的不同之處,就是特別版更“有血有肉“,於骨上和肉身上都有大量的血跡,而骨頭更是可以拆下來,是名付其實的“煎皮拆骨“。而普通版的據說是會比較“簡潔“,但骨頭是可以和不同的肉身合作,變成更多的特別版!

Hello Kitty x Hypercore pins

今年為35週年的Hello Kitty在這年找來了很多不同的品牌/單位合作推出大量的聯名產品來慶祝。而由於太多Hello Kitty 的支持者,幾乎每件聯名產品都以驚人速度賣清。而昨天去了日本punk rock 品牌Hypercore香港的代理店 C’S Shop, 竟然發現了Hypercore與Hello Kitty聯名的扣針!而據了解這個聯名產品本來是極限量的,而店長很辛苦才能引入極少許回來,而且只是售賣港幣200元正。
另外也有一是為聖誕節而推出的版本。

Celebrating it’s 35th Anniversary this year, Hello Kitty has been releasing many collaboration items with different brands and labels. Almost all the items were received very well by their fans and snapped up almost instantly. While visiting C’S Shop, the punk rock dealers for Japan punk rock brand Hypercore, I was surprised to find buttons and pins released by Hypercore and Hello Kitty ! From our understanding this collaboration is super limited and C’S Shop had spent much efforts to bring in limited quantity. It is retailing for HKD200 and there’s also a Xmas version available.

Supreme monograph by Rizzoli Publications

曾於2008年和A Bathing Ape 合作的美國紐約有名出版公司 Rizzoli Publication,找來了另一紐約有名的滑板/街頭文化龍頭之一的品牌Supreme 合作出版一本專題書刊。

此書的主要內容是講述Supreme怎樣由一間在Lafayatte的很小型的滑板店,怎樣推動滑板/街頭文化,由小型店變成一個龍頭,怎樣找到很多世界有名的攝影師 Terry Richardson,畫家村上隆 Takashi MurakamiFutura 2000, Kaws, Damien Hirst 等,前世界級拳王泰臣和美國極受歡迎的卡通角色 Kermit The Frog等等一起合作。而整本書的內容找來了Supreme 創辦人之一James Jebbia,前Supreme 店長和代表性人物 Aaron Bondaroff (現品牌aNYthing,Off Bowery創辦人)協助下,將很多很多鮮為人知或被唯忘的故事都再現,還有書序的部份也找來了名雜誌GQ的Glenn O’Brain 編寫。是完完整整的一本Supreme紀錄,或許也可以說是整個美國東岸的街頭文化的紀錄。

此書將於2010年4月6日正式推出,但現在於 AMAZON 裡可以先行預購。

來自英國的HIPHOP歌手 Dizzee Rascal 於早幾年得到最佳新人等獎項後,成績更突飛猛進,現已成為全球其中一個HIPHOP界的巨星之一。而今年2009年,Dizzee的第四張大碟 “Tongue n Cheek” 於9月中正式發售,在唱片公司的大量宣傳同時,Dizzee和 NIKE 以大碟名稱推出了一雙 NIKE AIR MAX 90,把宣傳效果推高也不經意地打入時裝界。

而繼第一波的宣傳後,Dizzee就開始了巡迴演出,為配合唱片和巡迴演出的宣傳,Dizzee 找來了他最愛的品牌 RED MONKEY COMPANY (RMC) 合作推出了一條丹寧褲,而我們MADNESS就看過了實物,這褲用上大碟 “Tongue n Cheek”的字體顏色,於前方近腰部繡有Dizzee 自己的名字,而三隻小蒼蠅”Dirtee Stank”分佈在褲上,Dirtee Stank 是Dizzee的音樂廠牌名稱,褲後袋是紫色海浪花,而鈕扣也是用上紫色的。這雙褲子已經得到了Dizzee方面的首肯,將會於2010年發售,但這褲只會於英國限量發售,所以各位支持者想買的就要去網上購買吧。

還有kitmeout.com把Dizzee 穿上了這褲襯上他的NIKE AIR MAX 90 在Top of the Pops裡的照片顯示於各位眼前。

For his on-going tour, Dizzee had chosen to work with his favorite brand RED MONKEY COMPANY (RMC) to release a Denim Jeans which we at MADNESSS had saw the sample first hand . Using “Tongue N Cheek” album’s fonts, Dizzee’s  name was embroidered near the waist area, with 3 fly logos from his label “Dirtee Stank” on the denim. The back pocket comes in beautiful purple colored wave pattern, completed with matching purple button.  For those who wish to get this pair of denim jeans, it will be released in limited quantity in UK in 2010 and for those outside UK, you can look out for it online.

Zozotown x Porter x Star Wars Collaboration Collection

Recently Japanese online giants Zozotown has teamed up with internationally renowned bag makers Yoshida & Co. and Lucas Films to produce a series of bag based on the Star Wars universe. The current collection consist of a wallet, shoulder bag, back pack and a tote bag. The black print on the backpack is based on the colors of the light saber for the Sith Lords (red) and the Jedi warriors (blue), while on the white print on the wallet and tote bag you could spot the silhouette of the Stormtrooper helmet. The collection will be released exclusively in Japan sometime in mid-January 2010.

Nike Cortez – Year of the Tiger

NIKE自2002年第一次推出以中國農曆生肖的鞋款後,於以後每年繼續以這個主題推出鞋款,而即將來臨的就是虎(寅)年。
今年NIKE就選取Cortez 作為設計鞋款,整雙鞋大部份的位置都由馬毛覆蓋,鞋側的尼龍上印有虎的斑紋,鞋墊也是有虎紋的凹凸形狀,而鞋舌的皮革上就壓有“寅“的中文字。
而對虎年Cortez是2010年的NSW系列之一,售賣日期和價錢待定,有更多的資料會再於MADNESS報導。

Since 2002 Nike had released series of shoes to commemorate each Lunar New Year ( Chinese Lunar New Year is represented by a different animal in a twelve years cycle ).

The coming Lunar New Year will be the Year of the Tiger and Nike had chosen the Cortez model for the release. The Cortez are designed in the form of a Tiger, with fur and Tiger straps donning the shoe with the distinguish “Tiger” written in traditional Chinese character.
