Last weekend saw Colorado-based Airwalk sponsored a beach clean-up event in conjunction with The Oahu chapter of The Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches.

Airwalk pro surfer Anastasia Ashley participated in the clean-up effort and speak on environmental threats affecting our beaches and oceans. Airwalk and Ashley also gave away an exclusive Anastasia Ashely X Airwalk signature shoe to the first 25 attendees for the event.

The Airwalk shoe was designed by Anastasia herself, in a style described by her as “surfer-Barbie meets rock-and-roll bohemian.”

Anastasia Ashley grew up in  Hawaii and started surfing at the age of 5. She  won 2 NSSA National Titles and was named the ASP Hawaiian Triple Crown Rookie of the Year.  Most recently, she was the 2008 APSPR women’s tour champion and a finalist at the 2009 Women’s Pipeline Pro.

Free Airwalk T-shirts were also hang out to participants. Lunch were kindly provided by Airwalk, during which Ashley facilitated a discussion on environmental threats and conducted an interactive Q&A with participants.

“Anastasia has not only proven herself as a driven athlete but she also finds time to support great causes like The Surfrider Foundation.” said Eric Dreyer, Vice President of Brand Management at Collective Licensing International. “We are very proud to support Anastasia and the Surfrider Foundation in their collaborative effort to clean up Oahu’s Sunset Beach.”

The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and preservation of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers, the Surfrider Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary and now maintains over 50,000 members and 70 chapters across the United States.
