This week saw the launch of the adidas Originals x Star Wars collection around the globe and to mark the occasion, adidas has produced a video featuring the clothing and the footwear in the collection, and a few notable celebrities making a guest appearance which include Snoop Dogg, David ‘Golden Balls’ Beckham, DJ Neil Armstrong, Calle 13 and a surprise appearance by French electro duo Daft Punk. Is this a sign of a Daft Punk x adidas collection to come in the near future?
Aside from the recent release of the collaborative Star Wars collection, adidas Originals is releasing yet another collection this season which is a bit different to their usual offerings. Titled ‘A.039′ Collection, it is a new integral part of the adidas Originals line up by utilizing the iconic styles and well-established 3-Stripes mark in combination with contemporary design. Also it marks a usual departure from past adidas designs by minimising the use of the trifoil logo and 3 stripes across the entire collection of footwear and clothing.
The A.039 is also the pantone number for the famous blue colour that adidas is associated and used in all adidas marketing and brandings.
The collection will be exclusively available at adidas Originals Store.

Over the past weekend, adidas officially launched it’s long-awaited collaboration project with Lucasfilms’ most famous franchise, Star Wars. The launch was spread over 2 days, with Darth Vader and a brigade of Stormtroopers parading in their iconic costumes in downtown Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui, then making quick stops at the adidas Original Store to promote the entire range of products. Also part of the launch is a adidas originals x Star Wars poster collection that is designed by local Hong Kong graphic designer Dorothy Tang, a 3-D animation video created by the team at SiLLY THING, and a in-house viral video campaign aptly titled ‘Star Wars Attack in Hong Kong’ which is now live on Youtube and Facebook.
The entire collection is spread into 3 different parts: Characters Pack, Classic Scenes Pack and Vehicles Pack, and each pack contains both sneakers and clothing which is related to the theme of the pack.
- Character Pack: the design of this pack is based on the corresponding character in the movie, featuring colours and details which made that particular character iconic in the giant Star Wars universe.
- Classic Scenes Pack: re-creating famous scenes in the Star Wars universe and put them in the form of a pair of sneakers.
- Vehicles Pack: transforming all your favourite Star Wars vehicles into some of adidas’ famous sneakers.
A portion of the collection is now available at J-01, while adidas Originals Store will be releasing them on the 29th of January.

每當提及 RED MONKEY COMPANY (RMC) 的丹寧褲時，大家不期然㑹想到重磅丹寧布、高質的細節位和超華麗的刺繡。然而除了華麗的款式外，最近 RMC 於2010年的春季系列發展了簡約的款式，並在褲後袋以手繪雙橫線作為標誌。而我們受邀到了MKWS (MARTIN KSOHOH WORK SHOP) 首先觀看這批褲子。
RMC Denim Jeans has always been synonymous to the usage of heavy weighted denim fabric, high quality embroidery and details. The latest release (Spring 2010) from them saw a simplify version with hand painted stripes on the back pocket. MADNESS was invited to preview this new version at MKWS.
當我們到逹MKWS後，已在他們的展覽室看到已畫好的褲子，以1001的型號作為基本，褲的剪裁上都比以往的窄了少許，由褲鈕到撞釘到布邊等細節也一應俱全，當然重點就是在褲後袋的手繪雙橫線，而馬田先生就親身示範了給我們看手繪的過程。以獨有的顏料，每次手繪時，除了很細心慢慢畫上外，也要不停的補色，所以每一條也要用上差不多半小時完成！也相對地所推出的貨量也就很少!暫時也只有四種顏色選擇，分別是紅，粉藍，米白和黃色，而我們亦得到馬田先生的首肯，紅色的款式都是我們的 SHOP MADNESS 獨家發售。
The HAND PAINTED ORIGINAL RED (O.R.) DENIM uses the cutting of the 1001 model with slimmer cut. The details remain but with 2 hand painted stripes. Mr. Martin Ksohoh demonstrated to us the painting process which involve the use of special paint, careful execution and repeated touch up. Each painting process took about half an hour to complete. Due to the time consuming painting process, the quantity produced are very limited and available now in four color: Red, Blue, Off White and Yellow. 於1998年組成的 日本樂團 UZUMAKI，以NU METAL 為基本，把LOUD ROCK, HIPHOP, PUNK 和電子音樂等各種不同的音樂種類混合起來變成了其獨特的風格，同時將日本的街頭文化裡的特色放進在他們的音樂中，這些獨特的風格深受日本街頭新人類擁戴，從而他們於這幾年由地下樂團的姿態，變成了今時今日出國巡迴表現的樂團。於2008年 UZUMAKI 推出了一張名為”BLAZE OF GLORY”的細碟，而這碟內就找來了NU METAL先驅 － 來自美國的 SLIPKNOT 樂團中的 SID aka #0 為 UZUMAKI 進行混音。除了得到 SLIPKNOT 外，UZUMAKI 也曾得到另外兩隊NU METAL 的超有名樂隊 LIMP BIZKIT / LINKIN PARK 賞識，於他們的日本巡迴演唱㑹內作為開幕表演樂團！另外，UZUMAKI 也參與了一張以對 THRASH METAL 傳奇樂隊METALLICA 作為致敬的日本大碟”｢METAL-IKKA ～ メタル一家」”。

Formed in Japan 1998, UZUMAKI presents themselves as a mix-style band combining Loud Rock, Hip Hop, Punk and Electronic music genre with a street culture attitude ! Recent years saw the rise of UZUMAKI as they released a mini album in 2008 titled “Blaze of Glory” which include a remix done by Slipknot’s SID aka #0. They also participated in the Metallica tribute album “｢METAL-IKKA ～ メタル一家」” and opened for LIMP BIZKIT / LINKIN PARK JAPAN TOUR.
Recent months UZUMAKI is stepping up the games with 2 continuous singles releases featuring TAKUMA of10-FEET and JESSE of RIZE fame. You can check out the two singles videos below and do look out for their new album dropping in the spring !
Debuted in 1994 and designed by Tory Orzeck from the Nike Advanced Project Engineering (APE) Group, the Air Footscape has achieved cult status over the years as the first Nike sneaker to be designed based on the anatomy of the human foot, as well as a side-lacing system which back in those days was a major head-turner. It was sent into oblivion over the years due to the dominance of the Air Max series in the mid-90′s but thanks to Hiroshi Fujiwara, the Air Footscape came back from the dead in 2006 and found a new lease in life after merging itself with the Air Woven technology and transformed into the Air Footscape Woven. Due to the commercial success of the Air Footscape Woven, HF then proposed a release of 4 colourways under the Tier Zero branch in 2009 which sold out worldwide instantly and proved to Nike that eager fans would snap up any colourway of the Footscapes they release. This is where the Air Footscape Motion comes in.
The Air Footscape Motion could be seen as a brand new shoe altogether. Featuring the latest in Nike technology, the shoes utilizes the newly-introduced Torch technology and coupled it with the Flywire technology on the upper to increase breathability, minimise weight and material while giving enough strength and support in the critical areas. The outsole now features the FREE technology which lets your feet walk in the most natural posture as possible. Last but not least, it features the fragmentdesign logo on the tongue and on the heel.
The shoe also comes in a electric blue colourway and is an Asia-exclusive release, with the release date penned sometime in January.

The CLOT assault continues this month after the release of the Kaws collaboration t-shirt and the Dunk Hunting sweater, this time round presenting a whole selection from their FW09/10 cut-and-sew collection ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’. This week’s release see a variety of items, which includes:
- CLOT Joe Tee: a very obvious tribute to G.I. Joe.
- Polardawn Tee: Keeping in sync with the title of the collection “From Dusk Till Dawn”, the print depicts the dawn of a new day after working and playing non-stop for the whole night.
- Two Toned Alpaca Sweater: spices up the dull colour scheme of the usual sweater with dual colour tones along with 100% wool construction. Not your average sweater.
- Bomber Sweater: Twists the iconic Bomber jacket worn by US Air Force pilots with the use of wool to give it a more youthful tone.
- Patchwork Hoody Shirt: Similar to the hoody shirt from last season, this time round they switched things up a bit by incorporating patchwork on the shoulder and elbow area to make it more functional.

Following the release of the CLOT x Original Fake ‘Hong Kong’ tee over the weekend, the CLOT army is back once again with another release from their ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ collection. The image on the front and back of this sweater is a creative homage in the form of a pixel art to the duck that was featured in the 1984 NES/Famicom (depending on what region you’re from) game ‘Duck Hunt’. This knitted sweater best represents the playful and carefree nature that CLOT creative director, Edison Chen, wants his legion of followers to have no matter they are working or playing.
Also releasing at the same time is a Button up V-Neck sweater in 3 colourways (Black/ White/ Stripe) that is a very good compliment to the rest of the ‘FDTD’ collection, or could be worn by itself.

於最近比較沉靜的世界有名玩具設計師 ERIC SO 在 2010 年剛開始就進行了第一項聯名計劃，聯同了友好品牌 Red Monkey Company，在其新支線 MKWS 裡推出了一件聯名Fleece背心。
2010 is the year we see the come back of ERIC SO. His first release for the year is a crossover Fleece Vest with Red Monkey Company’s MKWS.

The Tennis Classic model has been introduced back in 2008 under the Nike Sportwear line and it is well known Hiroshi Fujiwara is a big advocate of the model, as seen by the number of times he used it as a canvas for some of his recent collaboration efforts. Nike and HF has teamed up to release a special Asia only colourway of the model which is stated to release this month. Featuring pearl-white leather with black lining, gold heel tab and tongue patch, Zoom Air insoles to provide support and comfort and embossed ‘fragmentdesign’ logo on the heel, these are sure to be a massive sell-out, like all other HF collaboration products.
