Back a few years ago, the sneaker world was immersed with the idea of customization, which the customizer would create a one-off pair of sneaker to make it stand out from the hundreds and thousands of colourways of the same sneaker. In that period, customizers such as Methamphibian and SBTG (Mark Ong) were punching out colourways that was much better than what the sneaker companies were doing and later they would even team up with those brands to produce official products.
This season, the adidas Originals team is trying to redefine the term customization by introducing their ‘Hide and Seek’ collection.
Putting a different twist to sneaker customization, the adidas Originals team has put together a collection titled ‘Hide and Seek’ which lets the wearer modify and change the physical appearance and aesthetic of the sneaker or apparel by changing different ‘parts’ that jus clips on to the product.
The Stan Smith before and after customisation (from high cut to low cut) – HKD$800
Technically, this allow the wearer to change his/her sneaker from a high top to a low cut sneaker, add a extra patch for more support or add a extra hood on to the hoodie for more protection for the wearer.
