MADNESS NOIZE – BRING THE NOIZE

Posted by admin On February - 19 - 2010

After three months of hard work and building a sound readership, we are glad to bring to you  ”NOIZE”, a new column in MADNESS MAGAZINE.  As the name suggested, this will be a place that will catch  your attention with in depth features and interviews with individuals and artists from different  area of creativity background. You will also see contributions from different creativity minds in the form of articles and art. Through all these we hope that we can continue to bring to all of you more new ideas and creative outputs with different aspects.

We’re thankful for all the continuing supports we are receiving since we started MADNESS a few months ago.  We’ll like to share a song here with all of you by none other than legendary thrash metal band ANTHRAX and hip hop group PUBLIC ENEMY. BRING THE NOISE is a track from the first generation of metal rap crossover which had influenced many till this day. The song hold special meaning for all us here at MADNESS as it represent the crossover and integration of different cultures and ideas that influence us greatly and also represent what we hope to present to all of you through “NOISE”.

See you guys in the MOSH PIT !

Preview of Pentax I-10

Posted by hasheeme On January - 26 - 2010

Over the past weekend, adidas officially launched it’s long-awaited collaboration project with Lucasfilms’ most famous franchise, Star Wars. The launch was spread over 2 days, with Darth Vader and a brigade of Stormtroopers parading in their iconic costumes in downtown Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui, then making quick stops at the adidas Original Store to promote the entire range of products. supreme book

Following the high-profile collaboration with A Bathing Ape in 2008, famous New York publisher Rizzoli Publication has teamed up with Supreme to publish a monograph of the famous skateboard brand in 2010.  Curated with the help of James Jebbia and with the introduction written by Glenn O’Brian of GQ and Aaron Bondaroff (ex-Supreme store manager, owner of aNYthing and Off Bowery and the un-official face of Supreme), this book sets to give the reader an insight on how they came from a small skateboard store on Lafayatte Street to one of the biggest name in the modern street culture era with high-profile collaborations with Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Kaws, Futura 2000, Terry Richardson, Mike Tyson and Kermit the Frog . A definite must-have on the coffee table of every street wear and culture enthusiast.

The book is set to release on April the 6th, 2010 but pre-order for it is now available on Amazon.

X: Mark of Collaboration

For the first time Arkitip handed the curating responsibilities for the issue edition to an outside source; namely, Alex Calderwood and John C Jay. Both of them had join forces to create an edition of Arkitip born from a provocative dialogue between unique individuals from their own personal network of creatives.

This special issue of Arkitip celebrates the power of collaboration with the empowerment of technology, culture’s admiration and the opportunity to exchange ideas across time zones, lifestyles and disciplines. It shown that the art of collaboration has been renewed by a new generation raised on digital media and global connections.

The Jazz Loft Project: Photographs and Tapes of W. Eugene Smith

Posted by Ray Shion On December - 6 - 2009

jazzloftproject01

Fans of Jazz music and photography alike will really dig this photography book released by Knopf. Legendary photographer W.Eugene Smith ( known for his brutally vivid WWII pictures ) opened his house in his NY apartment at 821 Sixth Avenue as a practice and performance space for some of the great artists of mid-century jazz and unknown players. As a result, he took many photos of these jam and recording sessions and a glimpse of his neighborhood in the 50s and 60s. Documented and put together by Sam Stephenson, this is an essential book for jazz fans, photography lovers and those interested in the history of New York.

Available at Amazon.com
